Leucistic Aquatic Warbler was caught in France.
Atypically pigmented Aquatic Warbler was caught at Trunvel ringing
station, Brittany, west France, on 23th August. This phenomena in
called leucism –
reduced pigmentation in animals. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a
reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. There are
lots of examples of leucism among birds, but it is the first
registration of the Aquatic Warbler with reduced pigmentation.
